Fowler 1" Dial Indicator

Only 4 stars because I haven’t used it yet. The reason for this review is to let you know that Starrett set no. 25R which I have fits perfectly check button on Fowler dial in picture.

What I received is not what is pictured. Was expecting the rev dial to be 1 revolution per inch. The one I received was 2 rev's per inch. Found one elsewhere that met what I wanted. Returned this item.

Good value for the money. Seems to be well constructed. The internal mechanism is similar to a Mitutoyo, aside from where plastic has been substituted for metal

A very good quality part at a very reasonable price. It has a satisfying, sturdy feel when using it.

Bought this for work because of the travel…. I beat the heck out of it the year of owning it. Always stayed good and accurate! Would buy again. Now I use it in my garage works well with checking car barring play and what not! Highly recommend!

When did Fowler start making instruments in China?

These are smooth, has a little more than a 1" travel, with each revolution .1" to make reading to .001" easy. Not really anything not to like about these. Don't think the tips are replaceable, but that wasn't anything I expected at this price range. The little reminder pointers are a nice touch. Really good price point for this. No idea if it will last as long as a name brand, but for hobby use my bet is that it'll be fine...but we'll see.

This is a very well made, economical Dial Indicator. I put it on a Blade Measuring Device. It works very well. Nice!

So I bought this indicator because I needed something to help me level my tools in my shop, I have a laser cutter, 3 3d printers, a tabletop cnc and a bench mill. All my work surfaces fit roughly 400mm x 400 mm (or 200x800 for the mill) and I try to be as precise as I can without sacrificing my first born.Note, I made my own holder for each set up using 3d printed parts.This does just the job, albeit being a chunky indicator. All in all, a great add on to any home shop.

I ran the Fowler indicators through the gauge blocks after reviewing the less-than-impressive first look at Shars. The pair of Fowler indicators performed very well out of the boxes as expected. No doubt have a reliable use in the shop.

I know we have all dropped a good piece of equipment and broken it.Well, that's exactly what I did, then a semi ran it over.I expected this was going to cost me dearly, but it did not!This is perfect and measurements are spot on.Fowler quality. Great buy as spare or replacement!

Well made

I have a few dials, wanted to get a low cost item for knocking around. Not bad, but mine did have a bit of "grittyness" in the stroke only at specific spots. Opened up the back and things appeared to be ok, added a light coat of very light oil to the gears and after 50 or so strokes it did smooth up some. This item is about on-par with the Harbor Freight item. If you want to spend more for the Fowler name, then so be it. It's made in China.

I have a HF dial indicator. Wanted to step up to a nicer gage. This gage is made in China, and looks exactly like the HF gage. I could have purchased a HF gage for a lot less.
