The price was right and I had another version from several years earlier that I used A LOT in a foreign country that is still there. I used them to set up the injection system and bridge pieces on a large Perkins diesel. Has a nice large screen and easily pressed buttons that do not require a large amount of pressure. Recommend having some pressure in the form of say .100 of travel on the plunger as a pre-load but my way of using it was also kind of special at times. Each adjustment was tried two times minimum per cylinder and the results were repeatable easily. Overall I liked it and once the whole mechanism set up and it was zero'd, it worked very well. It is NOT lighted so if the area to use it is dim or dark expect to use some lighting relatively close to it to not obscure the screen. I added about 250W of Daylight LED lights 360 degrees around the engine and so you can see the results as no flash was used in the photos.
I needed an indicator to replace one on a depth indicator that went bad after several years.I have a couple fowler sylvac Swiss made indicators. These don't have the same features as the sylvacs but at a fraction of the cost they do the job I'm asking of them.To me a digital indicator is best reserved for straight line measuring. Like depth gauges or tracking a mill centerline or lathe cross slide movements. For round indications like runout on a lathe I use the fowler dial face black with orange needles.Hard to go wrong for the money with fowler. Not a starrett but every job doesn't require that level of precision or your financial exposure when you pull out your 5 or 6 hundred dollar starrett indicators or 8 hundred dollar sylvac. These indicators are more than accurate enough for 95 percent of jobshop work.Repeat like they should.
I saw on the commercial. The Resolution was0.00005". But when I received it the Resolution only 0.0005". I do not know I get the right one I had order. I did not happy about that. Also, it inaccurate (.001 off measuring Range). The screen a little bit dark. Some time confuse reading numbers.
