Range: 0-6" with standards and case, includes 52-240-001-1 thru 52-240-006-1
Customers said these micrometers offer good value with accurate measurements, repeatable within .0001", and durable construction with carbide tips. The instruments are "accurate enough" and "work well" for machining. However, the storage box consistently receives criticism for poor craftsmanship, including splintering wood, broken components, and rough finish.

The micrometers themselves are in good condition and are calibrated to their standards. I have not used them yet but I am confident that they are fine. The storage box came with a bent locking tab and really rough looking. not happy with that. They need to figure out how to ship better.
I've been a CNC machinist for 4 years now. I bought a used basic set from a guy who retired from the company I worked for. Everything was used and abused but a couple high dollar items made it all worth it.I never really needed the 0-6 mics because I was working on a big mill where bore sizes were 20" or greater so all tools were company supplied. Then recently I switched shifts and machines and need my 0-6 set daily. The used ones I had were very inconsistent and gummed up and had obviously been dropped more than once I wasn't ready to drop over $1k for starrett so I got these. They've been great. They are plenty accurate even against my companies setting standards vs the standards that came in the case. The lever lock isn't as good as Mitutoyo but they suffice. For this price point on a 0-6 with standards, carbide tips, and tenths readouts, you can't beat the price.
Nice mics for the moneyThey are accurate and all the standards and mics are well calibrated.Wood case has poor craftsmanship
Getting ready to do a first time engine rebuild and these fit the bill. Accurate enough for my purposes. Although the storage case leaves a lot to be desired, it does serve its storage purpose.
These are a lot nicer than the cheaper ones I am getting repeatable measurments within .0001 +/- the cheaper set I had and returned was up to .0012 +/- these are nice and work well I had to take one apart and lean it but other than that no problems.
I've had these mics for a month and am very happy with them. They're smooth, sturdy, & accurate. I routinely machine steel shafts holding +.001/-.000 and they work great. I would save your money on higher end mics and choose these. My only complaint which prevented me from giving a 5 star rating was the box, it's kinda cheap and had wood burrs all over the place. I sanded them all down and now it's fine.
Hubby asked for these for Christmas. He is quite pleased with his gift choice and says they are exactly what he was expecting.
Felt fragile and petite, 2 were calibrated .025 off and 4 of six had the ratchet mechanism come apart in box. Storage box was full of wood dope repair and the micrometers didn’t fit in there location properly. Over all I expected a better product from Fowler. Powder coat looked good and the numbers and lines are clear and exact. Carbide tips look and feel good. Nice color. In the end I felt like I bought a cheap $150 kit for double the price. If you only use them sometimes and plan to put in your tool box drawer and don’t mind calibrating a new mic, this product may be for you. I’ve had high quality mics and budgets as well over 33 years. These are definitely towards the bottom end.
Machinist here writing the review. These are for my home use. Items are of a better quality than others. Obviously it is not of Starrett or similar brand quality, but it will do. Box arrived in damaged condition with a corner being chipped and interior wood that holds the mikes, damaged. Micrometers look no worse for wear. Amazon offered replacement or refund options only. The mikes were checked against the supplied standards and all need minor adjustment. Also to note that the locking levers are stamped steel, not solid, found on higher end sets. Everything was in sealed packaging with each having its own desiccant bag. I deducted a star because of the box quality and construction. They obviously should know better by now. I will update if needed.
Fowler is a good brand micrometers without that expensive price
I bought this exact set in 2005. I am a journeyman machinist who uses them every day. They get used and abused, and I mean abused! They are still accurate enough to pass q calibration test and recieve their calibration stickers. Recently though the dust and abuse has started getting to them, and I noticed them sticking. I will be ordering another set very shortly.
Les micromètres sont très précis et solide. La boite es fragile et j’ai du retourné le premier set que j’ai reçu car la boite était cassé a l’intérieur... J’était pas sur au début parce que le 0-1 et le 1-2 sont a friction mais finalement je les adore.
A
Good price and close enough to my Mitutoyo(s)
These seem to be decent quality micrometers. The ad says .001" graduation, but they are in fact .0001" graduations. The quality of the case is pretty low, and the micrometers can rattle around in the box. The fit and finish is quite good for the price. The larger 3"-4", 4"-5", 5"-6" mics have ratchet thimbles and they feel better than the 2 smaller mics with friction thimbles. Out of the box they seem to need slight adjustments, and I will have to check them with higher quality standards when I get the chance.
I would love this mic set if the numbers were darker, that would make it easier to read measurements.
We are a school so they will work OK. Some of them had parts fallen off the ratchet end knobs, but I was able to reassemble them OK. If I was a pro in business, I probably would spend them money and buy a better brand.
Great product.
I purchased 12 of these (Fowler 52-215-006-1) kits for training Dealer Technicians back in Dec of 2014. Still using them and training Tech's how to properly measure engine parts. Back when I was at school, we used them a lot. Most Tech's have forgotten how to measure and I felt it was a good start to have Tech's completely disassembly a production engine, take measurements, and reassemble with all brackets. I recommend this kit after 2 years of use, and still working.
Great product and on time delivery
