Indicator Accessories
An indicator you already own can usually do more than it's doing right now. These four accessories extend it: a ruby contact point set swaps in different contact shapes, a depth base attachment turns an indicator into a depth gage, an indicator chuck holds small pin gages, and a rectangular holder mounts an indicator in setups a standard clamp can't reach.
How to choose
Contact points
Ruby contact point set
Six contacts, flat, convex, extra-long, and ruby ball, for indicators with American Standard thread mounting, letting one indicator adapt to different part geometries instead of buying a second indicator for each contact shape.
New capability
Depth base attachment
Turns a dial or electronic indicator into a depth gage, fitting indicators with a 3/8" or 8mm mounting stem. Worth it if the shop needs occasional depth checks but doesn't want to buy a dedicated depth micrometer.
Mounting
Indicator chuck & rectangular holder
The indicator chuck holds small pin gages for restricted-access applications with a 4-48 thread mount. The rectangular holder mounts an indicator in setups where a standard round clamp won't fit.
Common questions
It's built for indicators with American Standard Thread mounting. Check your indicator's contact thread spec before ordering if it's a non-standard or imported model.
Yes. It fits indicators with either a 3/8" or 8mm mounting stem, which covers most of Fowler's dial and electronic indicator lines, not just mechanical ones.
It holds small pin gages in place of a standard contact point, for restricted-access applications where a pin gage needs to be positioned precisely rather than a normal contact tip.
