Customers praised this digital caliper for excellent accuracy and quality. Many verified precision using gauge blocks and standards, with measurements within .0005-.001". Shoppers noted smooth operation, tight head with no wobble, and heavy construction. Great value compared to premium brands at a third the price.

For the price it seems to be one of the better values out there. It has a nice storage case and operates smoothly. Definitely nicer than the HF alternative.
Accurate repeatable measurements. Very smooth caliper function. Jaws fit together perfectly. Clear display. Fairly easy to read from most angles and in dim light. Display is not backlit but that doesn't appear to be an issue. I don't have to re-zero when I power it back up. It remembers where it was and it knows where it is now if I moved it while it was powered off. I like that feature that I don't have to re-zero it and do the measurement all over again if it powered down while I was working. IP54 rated, (that was not disclosed in the web description). Ships with 2 three volt lithium CR2032 batteries. Only one battery required. A one inch recalibration block and extra battery cover was included. Although the extra battery cover did not include the water proof seal in my sample. I haven't owned it long enough to comment on battery life.It feels well made and I like it. I use Mitutoyo at work and this pretty much matches it in accuracy. The build quality’s not the same but then again it cost almost 3 times less. Time will tell and I'll update about its reliability and durability as needed.
I'm giving these a 2 out of 5 bc I don't believe this product lives up to the Fowler name brand. I've used a lot of Fowler calipers at work- both old and new, and they all felt better than this cheaply machined one. There are pronounced tool marks all down the inner groove- big enough I can easily feel them with my fingernail. They prevent the caliper from sliding smoothly and cause it to catch every so often while you open or close it.I tested this caliper against my work mitutoyos and it does give fairly accurate measurements, but the problem is it catches and is so stiff, it's hard to get the blades to measure exactly against what you're measuring. I tried putting on a few drops of gun oil to smooth things up, but the machine marks along the groove are just too prominent to glide over with oil.I'm returning these and gonna try to find something else, but I don't know if I'll trust buying Fowler through Amazon again.
The case can in damaged, missing batteries and clip tha holds the case shut
The vernier works well and is accurate and it came with a nice case, only problems were it was unboxed before and the batteries were missing.
Fellow machinist , this is digital caliper you've been looking for . Good weight , easy to use and read display . I also like the "depth gauge " retainer screw you see in the picture . Other calipers have this little retainer bridge that always falls off , this is different . Best price too ,only about $43 bucks . With real nice case and extra battery .
As a mech e I use calipers almost daily. When the Mitutoyo got misplaced I had to requisition one that wasn't too expensive but wasn't crap either. I had good experience with fowler and the $35 price tag was very reasonable. After using it for a week I can say it is better set than the cheap harbor freight type. I like that it uses the large CR2032 battery instead of the LR44. Accuracy is reliable. However reading the LCD at extreme angle can prove challenging. There is a hold button which can come in handy in those situations. It's not as smooth as a mitutoyo but for the price I like it enough to order a set for myself to use at home.
I have no complaints about this item, it's well made and very accurate
Excellent product for the price. Quick, easy to use and read measurements. Accurate according to specs. Not hard to measure twice if you have doubt. Batteries included as well as a calibration pin for measurement upon opening. I would recommend purchase.
The battery goes dead when you are not using it. It has a auto-off feature that does not work well so now I will need to remove the CR2032 battery when I am not using it.
This has really helped me with my measurements I need to take!!
My new favorite tool. Allows me to measure everything and find the satisfying whole numbers hidden in plain sight. I've been able to measure things all over my house and either manufacture replacements parts on my 3d printer or order new replacements with confidence. Indispensable.
Works well
Love the fold-up screen which is so much easier to see when measuring on the lathe.
Would be 5 Stars if it had the following features:
- Had an "Off" button
- Automatically turns on when you slide the wheel or main body.
I have both of the above features on my $14 plastic calipers.
I have had this caliper for 6 years now and I don't run into any issues when I am using it. However, if you are using it and your hands are wet from coolant or oil, it can seep into the battery compartment and the caliper can read an ungodly number. It is not hard to fix or reset. I would purchase this again.
Work as intended. Good price .
Really nice. It never looses zero. Battery is about a year old and still going strong.
Quality is fine but this thing eats batteries. I don’t mean that using the caliper drains batteries quickly, I mean the caliper never turns off. The screen turns off, but it continues to drain the battery while stored inside the case. After finding the included battery dead I thought it was a dud, but that wasn’t the issue. Used this tool maybe three times on a brand new battery and it’s already dead. Very frustrated to need this tool for a quick measurement and can’t use it without going out for batteries. Would NOT recommend.
Very nice set of calipers. They feel sturdy and seem to be accurate - at least when compared to my Mitutoyo calipers. The price is very reasonable to. I'm very happy with them and highly recommend them.
I have bought 2 cheaper sets of calipers and have been disappointed with them. This has helped my confidence in using calipers for measuring. Its easy to use, doesn't lose zero very often, uses a 2032 battery, and measurements are repeatable.
Yeah it's 3 times the price, but this is a huge step up in quality from the no-name ones. If you use a caliper often, this is absolutely worth it.
Bought these because my first pair did not fare well after 6 months of daily use. After a few days of a buddy and I using these Fowlers, he is buying his own pair.Easy to use, smooth moving, auto-off, easy to read, repeating is a great feature.
